Full description and what we offer
Boar's Head Outfitters operates from The Outpost on the grounds of The Boar's Head Resort in Charlottesville, Virginia. Since the parent company (Resort Outfitters) was founded in 1994, they've built a program offering 32+ guided outdoor experiences for individuals, families, corporate groups, and scout troops.
The Outpost 200 Ednam Dr., Charlottesville, VA 434.214.4560 Monday-Sunday: 9:30am-5pm
All trips depart from The Outpost. Resort guests and non-guests both welcome. Plenty of parking.
This is their signature offering. Boar's Head offers two levels:
Historically, falconry was called "the sport of kings" because it was restricted to European and Middle Eastern nobility who paid master falconers huge sums to maintain their birds. Here, you get to experience what took centuries to become accessible.
Guided paddleboarding for all skill levels on local Virginia lakes. Equipment and transportation included. 2.5 hours, easy difficulty. It's one of America's fastest-growing water sports, and significantly more stable than traditional surfboards.
They operate Perception Kayaks and 2-person boats. The 3-hour clinic covers river safety and paddling basics on mild water. You might see ospreys fishing or deer along the banks. Equipment included.
Two activities in one 2.5-hour session:
Choose from high-end Cannondale or Trek bikes. They have Trek kiddie-trailers, tag-alongs, and full range of kids' bikes. Rentals available for 4 or 8-hour periods. Trails wind through the resort property and surrounding Charlottesville area with breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountain scenery. Open to resort guests and Charlottesville visitors.
$99++ per participant Tuesday and Friday at 9:30am 2 hours
You get a semi-automatic paintball marker, paintballs, coveralls, and face shield. Multiple game scenarios: capture the flag, elimination, etc. Teams of 10. Groups of 4+ can book outside standard tour times.
1.5-hour escape room experience. The setup: an old house in the woods with a history of occult practices. Your journalist friend is trapped. You solve brain teasers, riddles, and occult clues against the clock. Easy difficulty.
1.5 hours, easy. They partner with:
All transportation, tours, and tasting fees handled by Boar's Head. They cover how beverages are made. King Family allows outside food. Boar's Head can arrange sandwiches from a locally-sourced gourmet shop. Private trips available to visit all three.
Boar's Head Outfitters is part of Resort Outfitters, a consortium of resort-based adventure outfitters across multiple locations. Founded by Duane Zobrist, the company's approach centers on five core values:
We're Scrappy - They say yes first, figure it out second. That approach has driven their growth.
Solution Driven - They don't just offer flagship programs. They identify unmet needs and proactively solve them.
We Empower Our Employees - Any staff member can make decisions to resolve customer concerns immediately. You won't hear "I need to talk to my manager."
Non-Traditional Solutions - They think outside the box to make guests happy.
Risk Management - They practice emergency action protocols, maintain superior training, and operate to industry standards.
