Full description and what we offer
Concealed Carry VA teaches the state-approved training required to obtain a Virginia Concealed Handgun Permit. The course is taught by USCCA and DCJS certified law enforcement instructors who understand both firearms safety and the legal framework around self-defense.
Classes are held in Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Montgomery County, Giles, Floyd, Pulaski, Dublin, Radford, Salem, and Roanoke. In-person courses are now available in Christiansburg as well.
1. Take the state-approved training at one of their scheduled courses 2. Submit your application and course certification to your local court 3. Get your permit — Virginia residents typically receive theirs within 45 days
Virginia issues permits to eligible U.S. citizens from all 50 states, and the Virginia Concealed Handgun Permit is accepted in 36 states.
You don't have to be a Virginia resident to get the permit. Virginia has issued over 718,000 Concealed Carry Permits since the program began.
Dave English is the lead instructor—a USCCA Firearms Instructor with over 14 years as a law enforcement officer, plus experience as a teacher and coach. He's certified by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services as both a Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor and USCCA Instructor, meeting all requirements for Virginia Concealed Handgun Permit training.
The course covers more than just trigger safety. You'll learn the legal definitions of self-defense and when you're legally justified in using force. Understanding these laws isn't just important—it's critical. A bad situation can get worse fast if you're unprepared.
