All courses start with the NRA Basic Instructor Training (6 hours minimum) - a mandatory prerequisite that covers speaker introduction, teaching methods, course organization, and effective communication. This foundation applies across all disciplines.
"You do not pay and automatically pass Instructor training. You pay to have the opportunity to pass." — ODIN Tactical
These are performance-based courses. You need the knowledge, skills, and attitude to succeed. Pre-course qualification tests verify your foundational competency before discipline-specific instructor training begins.
Every course includes NRA documentation, instructor guides, student packets, full instruction, and follow-up support. You'll have everything needed to teach certified courses. Note: NRA processing fees apply after course completion.
Adding a new instructor rating? You may need to retake Basic Instructor Training if it's been more than 2 years since your last completion.
Current instructors can add new disciplines (Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, Personal Protection) after completing Basic Instructor Training and scoring 90%+ on the Trainers Examination.
