Duane cut his teeth on small arms in the Air Force armory, diagnosing M-16s and pistols. He worked on guns for friends and family for years, but when Covid hit, he decided to formalize the skill. January 2022—he opened 3 Labs Gunsmithing.
Service-disabled veteran owned business
The turning point was investing in a gunsmithing lathe. That wasn't just a business upgrade—it meant he could actually do precision work that most shops won't touch:
- •Muzzle threading for suppressors and muzzle devices
- •Barrel changes and installations
- •Accurizing and fine-tuning factory rifles
- •Stuck choke tube removal (high-demand service he added after customer requests)
- •General gunsmithing repairs
He can thread unconventional setups too. Threaded a suppressor onto a sporter 30-06 by adding enough barrel purchase for thread protectors to stack properly—the kind of creative problem-solving most gunsmiths skip.
Located in the Spokane area and accepts mail-in work. Call with your project details and he'll walk you through what's possible.
Phone: 509-720-8433 Hours: 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM
This isn't a volume shop running generic jobs. Every customer he mentions is a repeat—people bringing in their old guns knowing they'll get competent, creative solutions. Machine shop background plus gunsmithing training equals someone who can diagnose problems and actually fix them properly.
