Full description and what we offer

First Gun Firearms Training cuts through the standard handgun course formula by bringing actual law enforcement experience to the classroom. The instructor's background means you're learning real-world decision-making, not just textbook information.

The one-day basic handgun program runs 8:30am to 3:30pm and hits the essentials:

  • Safety fundamentals – storage, handling, and safe firearm use
  • Hands-on shooting – correct technique and comfortable gun handling
  • Marksmanship – developing actual accuracy for self-defense or recreational shooting
  • Use of force law – understanding when and how you can legally defend yourself
  • Live-fire exercises – putting skills into practice at Upper Nisqually Sportsman's Club (less than 2 miles away)

Washington State residents: First Gun's certificate fulfills HB1143 requirements for concealed carry permits and is valid for 5 years.

Classes max out at 4 students per session, which means personalized feedback instead of getting lost in a crowd. First Gun also offers co-ed and ladies-only options, plus 2-hour private sessions.

OptionCost
Standard course (bring your own gun/ammo)$150
All-inclusive (guns & ammo provided)$200
Private 2-hour sessionVaries

Gun rental with all ammo included is available for $50 during regular courses.

  • Annual legal updates – All graduates get a free yearly legal update report so you stay current as gun laws change.
  • Location – Classroom at Trinity Aviation Academy (Swanson Airport 2w3), then move to the outdoor range for live-fire.
  • Student feedback – Reviewers consistently mention the personalized instruction, patience with questions, and tangible skill improvements (one student discovered she was a left-handed shooter despite being right-handed).

The source content makes a point worth noting: law enforcement can't be everywhere, and depending solely on police response isn't reliable. First Gun's philosophy is teaching self-reliance and actual decision-making skills—not just trigger control.
