Iron Monkey Rifle Works handles the detail work most gunsmiths won't touch. Based in Kenmore, Washington, they specialize in custom Staccato, Prodigy, and 2011 builds paired with bespoke finishing—scroll engraving, hand polishing, and PVD or electroplating in multiple finishes.

• •Custom 2011 Packages start at $2,500 and include their signature scroll engraving across the slide, frame, beaver tail, and safety selector. Each firearm gets a full 12-step hand polish progression (200 grit through 2000) finished on the buffing wheel for a mirror polish. Then your choice of coating: DLC, 24K gold, or rose gold on all steel components plus matching finish grip screws and optics screws.

• •Plating and Coating Services cover pistol slides, full pistols, AR uppers and lowers, and AK platforms. They offer both traditional electroplating (24K gold, chrome, nickel, black chrome) and modern PVD coatings (titanium nitride, black DLC, champagne rose). They'll consult you on which process actually makes sense for your firearm's longevity and function—not every coating works on every gun, and they'll tell you why.

• •NFA Lasering for proper compliance engraving runs $100 per job.

Their retail showroom handles FFL transfers at $50 for the first transfer, $10 for additional firearms in the same transaction. Walk in to browse, ask questions about finishing options, or drop off your project.

Custom builds require a 40% deposit upfront. Ship your firearm to their Kenmore shop, and expect 10-12 weeks minimum from receipt. They'll contact you when it's done to collect the balance. Remove your optic before shipping—$25 removal fee applies if you don't.
