Full description and what we offer
Peninsula Sportsman has been operating since 1999 as a guide and outfitting service specializing in waterfowl hunts, private fishing charters, and vacation cabin lodging near Port Townsend, Washington. Captain David Drewry, a fully licensed USCG Master Charter Captain, leads all hunts with decades of experience hunting the productive waters of the Salish Sea, Northern Puget Sound, Hood Canal, and Strait of Juan de Fuca.
The operation focuses on trophy diver and sea duck hunting for species uncommon in inland hunting:
Drewry uses custom handmade decoys and traditional decoy rigs with long-line systems. Hunters work from multiple boat options:
The primary charter boat, the Siwash, is a Yamaha-powered, Deep-V hulled custom aluminum vessel designed for safety and stability in rough ocean conditions. Hunt groups are limited to three hunters maximum.
3-day, 4-night all-inclusive packages include lodging in private cedar vacation cabins, homestyle Pacific Northwest meals featuring fresh local seafood and game, and guided hunts. 50% deposit required to reserve dates. Contact for current rates.
Hunters stay at The Cabins at Treefrog Woods, comfortable private cedar vacation cabins with campfire areas. Meals are prepared on-site and feature local Dungeness crab, clams, oysters, and fresh catch.
Peninsula Sportsman also offers private fishing charters for cabin guests during July and August:
All tackle provided. Custom filleting, cleaning, packaging, and crab cooking included so guests take home fresh seafood dinners.
Peninsula Sportsman practices strict fair chase hunting principles and demonstrates strong environmental stewardship. Multiple testimonials mention Drewry's knowledge of birds and commitment to not over-pressuring waterfowl populations.
Port Townsend is located approximately 80 miles (1.5 hours northwest) of Seattle and SeaTac International Airport via vehicle ferry and highway. The headquarters is near the historic Victorian seaport with access to Olympic National Park, Mountain views, Protection Island National Wildlife Refuge, and Glass Beach (known for high-quality sea glass). Wildlife viewing opportunities include harbor seals, tufted puffins, and harbor porpoises.
