Full description and what we offer
VRPC Juniors is a competitive rifle and pistol program for shooters ages 8-20, run by the Vancouver Rifle & Pistol Club. They're affiliated with USA Shooting, the NRA, and the Civilian Marksmanship Program—all three track competition averages and rankings.
Getting started is straightforward: - New shooters begin with one-on-one safety instruction and firearm handling from certified coaches - First two Monday practices include loaner rifles or pistols—no equipment needed to try it - After two practices, you decide if you're going competitive; if yes, sign the team agreement, pay the $50 yearly fee, and provide your own ammunition (available at the range)
Training progression: Coaches take you from supported prone position through unsupported prone, kneeling, and finally offhand (standing). Air pistol shooters work from a bench supported position.
Program Director: Katelyn Alala Certified Coaches: - Katelyn Alala (Rifle) - Rob King (Rifle) - Jerry Schadler (Rifle & Pistol)
"Club coaches focus on safety, responsibility, technical skills and having fun through success."
Junior team members traditionally show improvement in focus, maturity, grades, and overall responsibility.
Drop in Tuesdays around 5:00 pm to meet coaches and learn about the program. Bring your kid and ask questions—they'll walk you through everything.
All junior team members are encouraged to maintain memberships in USA Shooting, NRA, CMP, and the Washington State Rifle & Pistol Association. This is how competition averages are tracked at local, regional, and national levels.
