This isn't a commercial range trying to maximize throughput. OISC is a non-profit sportsmen's club rooted in conservation, education, and family participation. The club's foundational creed traces back to its Poggie Club roots:

"I am a sportsman. I guard the rights of my fellows in field and on stream. I take my game fairly. I do not waste what I take. I protect and conserve."

Members have consistently competed at statewide and Olympic qualifier levels in pistol and air gun disciplines. The club actively teaches hunter education and firearm safety. Free instruction is offered on a limited basis for beginners, including children and adults.

The 40 acres were purchased in 1952 for $1,000 through an arrangement between founding members and the Kimple family. Members constructed the original clubhouse in 1957 using donated materials. The trap range came in 1965-67, a dedicated Pistol Shed in the early 1980s, and the archery range recently opened.

The club maintains roughly 100 members and regularly hosts special events open to the general public. Members emphasize family involvement—potlucks, community days, and multi-generational shooting are standard.
