Full description and what we offer
Badger IDPA runs the International Defensive Pistol Association sport in Wisconsin—practical shooting that tests real defensive skills, not how much gear you own. Founded in 1996, IDPA now has 22,000+ members across 50 countries. The key difference: you can show up with your concealed carry pistol and holster and be completely competitive. Other shooting sports became equipment races. IDPA didn't.
IDPA matches simulate real-world self-defense scenarios using full-power ammunition, practical holsters, and the guns people actually carry. The sport solves one problem that existed before 1996: there was nowhere to compete with a service pistol without handicap.
"Load and Make Ready! Stand Bye! Beep! Pew-Pew-Pew!"
The club hosts 70+ members and has organized 8 Wisconsin State Championships since 2010. They run both indoor and outdoor matches—12 per year.
New to IDPA? Arrive early—the club runs a dedicated new shooter briefing BEFORE the safety briefing. Don't gear up beforehand. They'll cover what you need to know.
This is not a cutthroat competitive scene. The club takes the sport seriously, but fun is a high priority. What really sets them apart: they take pride in helping less experienced shooters become safer and more confident. Safety is unquestionably the number one concern.
