Heart of Wisconsin Sportsman's Club started in 1949 as the Wood County Conservation League and has grown into one of the region's most active shooting clubs. Situated on 160 acres near Wisconsin Rapids—120 acres enrolled in managed forest land—the club provides serious shooting infrastructure and community for trap, skeet, and 5-stand shooters.
Shooting Facilities: - 8 trap fields with state-of-the-art Pat Traps and Canterbury voice release systems - 2 modern skeet fields - 5-Stand shooting layout - All fields fully lighted for evening and winter shooting - Modern clubhouse facility

May through September (Extended): - Thursdays: 9:00 AM–12:00 PM & 6:00 PM–9:00 PM - Saturdays: 10:00 AM–3:00 PM - Sundays: 10:00 AM–3:00 PM - Summer League Wednesdays: 6:30 PM–9:00 PM
Closed during Wisconsin deer gun season (late November)
The club runs multiple competitive leagues throughout the year:
Summer Handicap Trap League (May–July) - 14-week Wednesday night league (6:30 PM start) - 5-person or 6-person rotation teams - $50 sponsor fee per team + $10/shooter weekly - Qualification rounds determine class placement - Shoot-offs and banquet after completion
Winter Trap League (January–March) - 10-week Wednesday night league - 50-target format: 25 16-yard + 25 handicap - $50 sponsor fee + $10/shooter weekly - Non-members add $10 league fee
Winter 5-Stand Leagues - Two 10-week leagues: Sunday & Wednesday evenings (January–March) - $160 cost per league - Non-members add $10 league fee
The Heart hosts shoots for regional leagues: - Central Wisconsin Skeet League (CWSL) – 2 winter shoots - Central Wisconsin Trapshooting League (CWTL) – 1 winter shoot - ATA shoots – Check outside events schedule
Important Rules: - No rifles or pistols on club grounds (shotguns only) - No alcohol allowed; beer sold on-site - Membership card serves as ID/trespass identification
