Full description and what we offer
High Plains Wingshooters has been operating fully guided Canada goose and duck hunts since 2004. Located in southeast Wyoming near Torrington, HPW sits directly in the Central Flyway where over half a million geese and ducks migrate each season. The operation has grown to become one of the largest waterfowl guide services in Wyoming.
Aaron and Jennifer Garcia purchased the business in 2014 and have expanded it significantly. Their last season was their best ever.
All hunts take place from comfortable, large, heated pit blinds. Each shooter gets their own lid for watching birds work into range before opening up. Most shooting happens within 30 yards—all within 45 yards maximum. HPW doesn't jump shoot or pass shoot. They bring birds in over decoys.
Guides deploy large decoy spreads daily: typically 10-30 dozen decoys per setup. Spreads are picked up and reset each day so geese never see the same configuration twice. This rotating approach prevents over-hunting individual pits.
HPW has access to numerous hunting locations throughout Goshen County. Daily scouting ensures birds are working the fields. The operation is strategic about pit placement—they rotate locations to maintain fresh birds throughout the season.
Canada goose hunts are the flagship offering. Hundreds of thousands of geese move through the area during season, and it's not unusual for a group to fill limits within a couple hours in the morning.
When ducks are available at the same pit location where you're goose hunting, there's no additional charge. If you need to move to a different location for ducks, a modest fee applies. HPW doesn't offer exclusive duck hunts—they take advantage of duck opportunities when they present themselves.
HPW accommodates single hunters through multiple pit loads, offering personalized experiences for different group sizes.
HPW offers a limited quantity of fully guided Merriam turkey hunts on private, productive terrain in Goshen County Valley. Hunts run from April 20 through May 31 each season.
Daily scouting patterns birds on HPW's leases. High-quality decoys enhance success rates. Hunts take place along the North Platte River and in secluded fields with peaceful, beautiful landscapes.
HPW's guide staff includes:
"Your blinds are outstanding and, as usual, the hunting was superb. You have a great location. I have hunted Canada and several western states, and I truly believe Torrington is one of waterfowling's greatest secrets." — Bob Davenport, guest
"Time is invested, realistic decoy placement, and top-notch calling skills...a recipe for success" — Jason Dupay, North Dakota
Hunters stay at HPW's guest lodge. The operation emphasizes comfortable lodging paired with quality hunting experiences.
