Yellowstone Outfitters has been running guided hunts and pack trips into the Teton Wilderness since 1950. Started by Lynn and Marcene Madsen, the operation is now owned and operated by their grandson Brandon Kunz and his wife Kendra—meaning your guide either grew up doing this or has decades of experience doing it.

The outfitter specializes in getting hunters and adventurers farther from a road than most people have ever been:

• •Elk Hunting Trips: 7-10 day pack trips during elk rut and migration season. Two primary camps: Hawks Rest on the Yellowstone River (3 miles from Yellowstone Park boundary—the most remote camp in the Continental United States) and Thunder Mountain camp at the mouth of Woodard Canyon.
• •Horseback Pack Trips: Multi-day wilderness trips on horseback through the Teton Wilderness near Grand Teton and Yellowstone
• •Daily Trail Rides: Shorter horseback rides through Buffalo Valley with views of the Teton Mountains
• •Fly Fishing Trips: Stand-alone fishing trips or combined with pack trips on remote waters including the Yellowstone River

Yellowstone Outfitters keeps group sizes intentionally small. They don't maximize capacity—they maximize experience. Small groups get once-in-a-lifetime trips with guides who actually care about them. Horses, remote camps, wildflower valleys, and silence. That's why most trips are booked years in advance.
