North Fork Archery Club

North Fork Archery Club (NFAC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving bowhunters and recreational archers across central Wyoming. Based in Lander with ties to the Shoshone National Forest, the club runs year-round programming from winter indoor league shoots to summer 3-D courses and their signature mountain event.

Indoor League Shoots - Winter league nights at CWC Annex in Riverton (875 Gasser Road) - 4-H division shoots at 6:00 PM, adults start around 6:45 PM - Typically run February through March, twice monthly

Summer League & Training - Summer league nights at Lutz Farm (Tuesday evenings, 6:00-7:00 PM) - Broadhead tuning party (mid-August) with bow presses, draw boards, and techs on-hand - Open to members only; free for members

The Bowhunters Rendezvous at South Pass

Their flagship event happens each July 26-27 on nearly 150 acres of Shoshone National Forest (south entrance via Louis Lake Road). This two-day 3-D shoot features:

• •40+ strategically-placed 3-D foam targets across two courses
• •Optional competitive divisions (youth, men, women) plus casual shooting
• •The "Kifaru Shootdown" – a money competition with 100% payout. Unlike typical shoots where only top 3 win, competitors are flighted by day-one performance, so top three in your flight wins cash
• •Equipment rules: Hunting bows only (compound and traditional allowed). Broadheads, crossbows, and target-style bows prohibited on-site
• •Saturday evening games: poker shoot (5 arrows vs. cards), milk jug shoot (tournament bracket), and a nighttime "critter shoot" with headlamps
• •Sunday raffle with prizes from Maven, Kifaru, Bowtech, Wind River Outdoor Co., Sheep Feet, Montana Knife Company, Wilderness Athlete, OnX Maps, and more

NFAC emphasizes "practicing how you play" – getting archers ready for actual hunting season, not just competitive scores. As club president Kray Lutz puts it: "The intent for this shoot is to get ready for hunting season and practice shots you'd encounter while hunting." This approach appeals to younger archers who appreciate the "mock hunt" element with their parents.

For the Bowhunters Rendezvous, attendees have two options:

• •Dispersed camping on Shoshone National Forest's "Loop Road" (accessible from Lander or South Pass entrance). Club members set up a main camp area, but spots fill based on demand
• •Hotel stays in Lander, about 45 minutes from the event. Book early—Lander fills up in summer

On-site amenities include: - Food truck serving Cajun cuisine and American favorites - Free water stations (Atlantic City Federal Credit Union donation) + Wilderness Athlete hydration packets for first 200 registrants - Port-o-johns near registration area - Happy hour hosted by Kifaru (BYOB otherwise; alcohol allowed off-course only)

Membership gets you discounted league shoot rates and access to member-only events like the broadhead tuning party.
