Cahaba River WMA Shooting Range

Cahaba River WMA Shooting Range offers 25, 50, and 100-yard shooting distances for rifles and pistols, with a separate clay target range for shotguns. Located at 3956 Coalmont Rd. in Helena, approximately 10 minutes southwest of town, the facility operates on a first-come, first-served basis with range officers on site during all operating hours.

• •Rifle/Pistol Range: Concrete firing line with designated shooting stations, stationary paper targets and metal automatic reset options
• •Clay Target Range: Dedicated shotgun area east of the rifle range for moving target shooting
• •Range Officer Check-in: Required before using any facilities

Alabama Residents (ages 16-64): Valid hunting, heritage, fishing, or WMA license required

Non-residents (age 16+): Valid WMA or non-resident hunting license required

Under 16: Must be accompanied by an adult on property

Licenses available online, by phone (1-888-848-6887), or at retail vendors statewide.

All legal firearms and ammunition permitted except armor-piercing, tracer, incendiary, or explosive rounds. Shotguns limited to #4 shot or smaller on clay range. Firearms must remain unloaded with actions open when not on the firing line. All brass collected separately, targets and shells disposed of in provided receptacles. No alcohol allowed. Violations result in citation or 24-hour privilege loss.
