Full description and what we offer
Cherokee Hills is a family-owned operation in North Alabama that specializes in hand-crafted grip sets for the 1911 platform and SIG SAUER P238/P938 models. Everything—design, carving, stippling, artwork, and finishing—is done by hand using basic hand tools and a few power tools. No CNC mills. No laser engravers. No outsourced labor.
They start by hand-selecting exotic hardwoods and burls with a focus on color, figure, and grain. Options include:
They work both natural wood and stabilized stock, and frequently accept requests for specific woods. If you want a custom order, they'll source raw scales and send you images so you pick the actual wood for your grips.
| Service | Details |
|---|---|
| Inventory grips | Ready-to-ship designs in 1911 Full, Commander, Bobtail, and Compact variants |
| Custom orders | 12-16 weeks typical turnaround; full design customization |
| Design options | Stipple patterns, Celtic crosses, dragons, Lord of the Rings imagery, Spartan/MOLON LABE, skulls, religious symbols |
| Grip types | Full size, slim, magwell-compatible, bobtail configurations |
"What you see is what you get" — If you order from inventory, you get that exact set. Nobody else will have grips identical to yours because each set's wood grain is unique.
"The typical order goes something like 'Hey man, I really love item #XXXX but I need it in magwell/bobtail/slim with a Celtic Cross carving. Can you do something like that?' The answer is 'Oh yeah! Let's get started!'"
They're members of the Alabama Gun Collectors Association and the National Rifle Association.
