Full description and what we offer
Ultimate Protection Academy runs a firearms training operation built on serious credentials. The instructors—Mary and Allen Polkowski—have trained through major academies including Gunsite (Arizona), Smith & Wesson Academy (Massachusetts), and Front Sight (Nevada). They're NRA-certified in five disciplines and hold specialized certifications in deadly force simulation, weapon retention, and rape prevention instruction.
They operate a lead-free tactical range (a significant detail for frequent shooters concerned with lead exposure). The facility includes a private membership range in Clinton Township, south of 16 Mile Road, conveniently near I-94 and I-696.
Operating hours: Saturdays 10 am–6 pm | Weekdays & Sundays by appointment
The academy has generated substantial media coverage over 25+ years—featured on NBC, CBS, Discovery Channel, PBS, and ABC news broadcasts. They've been profiled in national magazines including Women and Guns and appeared on radio shows with personalities like Ted Nugent. Their work in community safety and women's firearm training helped establish them as a recognized resource across Michigan.
Allen Polkowski holds degrees from Wayne State University and competed in PPC pistol competition at the master level. Both instructors maintain active law enforcement connections, including participation in Citizens' Police Academy programs.
Peace of Mind Training® is their registered program name—reflects their focus on responsible, practical defensive instruction.
