Freedom Defense Training operates as a multi-service instruction facility offering specialized courses in firearms, self-defense, medical response, security, and tactical operations. Their course catalog reflects real-world application—not theoretical exercises.
Texas License to Carry (LTC) — The state-regulated certification course runs 4-6 hours covering required topics, a written exam, and live-fire proficiency test. Held at locations including The Bridge Fellowship in Ben Wheeler, TX and other venues. Cost: $100 individual, courses fill regularly in January and February.
Beginner Handgun — Structured instruction for new or rusty shooters. Covers safe handling, loading/unloading, marksmanship fundamentals, malfunction clearing, maintenance, and intro to defensive shooting. $100-$150 depending on signup type. Handgun rentals with ammunition and safety gear available for $50/person—students can try multiple firearms before buying.
Long Range Rifle 1 - Precision — Eight-hour course (8 AM-6 PM) designed for novice rifle shooters. Covers long-range terminology, proper technique, and fundamentals that prepare students for advanced military-style sniper courses launching in 2026.
Intro to CQB (Close Quarters Battle) — Full-day course ($200) based on Special Operations lessons learned during the Global War on Terror. Run dry in a CQB shoot house covering movement, weapon handling, communication, room clearing, hallway tactics, and threat neutralization. Five modules include fundamentals, movement techniques, weapon handling, team tactics, and scenario-based training. Requires dry carbine with bolt removed and holstered sidearm with slide locked/no magazine.
Tactical Medicine 2 - Intermediate — Eight-hour course ($175) for students with prior medical training or completion of their Basic Tactical Medicine course. Focuses on trauma management under stress and movement, hemorrhage control, airway management, pediatric trauma, casualty evacuation, and decision-making in high-threat environments. Emphasis on operating under fire and mass-casualty response. Physically demanding with casualty carries and ground work.
Prerequisites: Prior medical experience or completion of Basic Tactical Medicine. Students must be in good physical condition.
Women's and Kids Self-Defense — Three-hour course ($15) with third-party protection focus. Covers situational awareness, pre-attack indicators, how predators select victims, environmental threat assessment (parking lots, gas stations, hallways, workspaces), close-quarter defensive skills, grip breaks, escapes from chokes and bear hugs, use of improvised tools (keys, bags, pens), stress-response training, and techniques for protecting children during danger.
Fundamental Body Language & Communication & De-escalation Training — Brought by nationally recognized trainer John Wilson (Founder of CBLTAC, 20+ years experience). Two 4-hour back-to-back courses: - Communication & De-escalation (8 AM-12 PM): Wolfson Formula verbal/non-verbal strategies for tense encounters - Fundamental Body Language (1 PM-5 PM): Recognition of 50+ pre-attack indicators across posture, movement, vocal cues

Most firearms courses run Saturday mornings (8 AM-1 PM range, some extend to 5-6 PM). Bring your own firearm and ammunition (50+ rounds recommended). Hearing and eye protection required (prescription glasses/sunglasses acceptable). Most venues allow snacks/drinks in classroom, no alcohol permitted. Handgun rentals and ammunition packages available for $50 if you don't own a firearm.
Cancellation Policy: No refunds, but course fees can be moved to another class within 60 days.
