Full description and what we offer

Hale's True Value Hardware & Sporting Goods is a full-service archery destination serving southwest Michigan since they opened at 56216 M-51 South. They combine a hardware store foundation with serious archery expertise—the kind of place where staff actually shoot and understand what beginners and competitors need.

  • Bows - Compound, recurve, traditional longbows, and crossbows from top manufacturers. Compound crossbows use cams and pulleys to reduce draw weight. Recurve options are popular for competitive shooting. They carry bowfishing bows too—specialty equipment built heavier and barbed for fishing.
  • Arrows - Aluminum, fiberglass, carbon, wood, and composite types. They stock nocks and fletching components so you can build arrows matched to your bow and shooting style.
  • Accessories - The full spectrum: arrow rests (simple to sophisticated), sights for accuracy, releases (wrist strap, trigger, back tension), arm guards, broadheads (fixed-blade, expandable, removable), and targets (paper, 3D foam, bag, crossbow).
  • Hunting & Apparel - Scentlok and HECS base layers, decoys, blinds, game calls, scents, boots, jackets, camo.
Package TypeIncludesPrice
Compound BowBow, sight, rest, quiver, peep sight (setup included)$350–$450
Recurve BowBow, sight, finger tab (setup included)$150–$350

They assess your handedness and eye dominance, discuss your budget and goals (competitive, hunting, or recreational), then assemble the right starter setup. Arrows and release aids sold separately.

  • Indoor archery range - All ability levels welcome; they encourage rentals so you can try different bows before buying
  • Archery lessons - Structured instruction to build and expand shooting skills
  • Bow setup & tuning - Draw length and strength assessment; sight installation and accuracy testing
  • Sight installation - Professional mounting and zeroing
  • Special orders - Can source gear not in stock
  • Monday–Saturday: 8:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. (Mon–Fri), 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (Sat)
  • Phone: 269-782-3426
  • Address: 56216 M-51 South, Dowagiac, MI 49047

They also carry firearms, ammunition, and fishing gear—but archery is their specialty and strongest inventory.

Bowfishing brands include Cajun Gear, AMS, and Easton.

Hale's staff will spend time understanding your experience level and goals rather than pushing the most expensive option. They rent equipment so you can test before committing. The indoor range is open during business hours, and the beginner package philosophy—assessing handedness, eye dominance, and budget—shows they're thinking about long-term shooters, not quick sales.
