Full description and what we offer
Lighthorse Tactical runs firearms and tactics instruction with a focus on relevance and realism. What works for a SWAT team on a hostage rescue doesn't translate to a citizen in a parking lot—and their training reflects that distinction.
Most instructors are current law enforcement officers conducting operations daily. They bring decades of service and hundreds of operational hours to the classroom. More importantly, they understand the difference between training a tactical officer and training a housewife protecting her family. The instruction is flexible, built around various skill levels and approaches.
Law Enforcement Programs: - WASP1 Patrol Clearing (2-officer tactics, angles and spaces) - CMVC2 Road Work Course (3-day manhunt and vehicle operations) - Response to Active Shooter contact team tactics - High risk warrant service - Vehicle takedown tactics - Patrol rifle, handgun, shotgun, and carbine training - Low light firearms training
Citizen Training: - Concealed Carry Handgun (CCW) - Basic, Intermediate & Tactical Handgun - Basic & Intermediate Carbine - Pistol Optics 01 & 02 - Home Defense courses - Church Security Training - Plain clothes/off-duty handgun - Street Level First Aid
Classes use non-lethal training munitions (Simunition) for force-on-target scenarios when applicable
All training is based in Alabama and conducted at Double Tap Training Grounds (Calera, AL). Two Level 2 Certified Trainers on staff handle Alabama Security Regulatory Board-compliant instruction.
Pistol Optics courses ($175 each) run intermediate shooters through zeroing, target acquisition, recoil tracking, and shooting from non-ideal positions. PO2 requires physical ability to kneel, squat, and shoot prone—not leisurely.
US citizens only—ITAR regulations apply. Certain LE courses require law enforcement credentials or current CCW permit.
