Alaska Ammo operates retail locations in Anchorage (2840-B Commercial Dr., 907-868-7676, 10am-7pm daily) and Fairbanks (340 Merhar Ave, 907-374-8008, 9:30am-8pm Mon-Sat, 10am-6pm Sun). They're known for something most ammunition dealers don't do: deliver to remote Alaska communities.
Their Bush Orders program ships ammunition, smokeless powder, and reloading primers to:
Aniak, Bethel, Dillingham, Emmonak, Galena, Iliamna, King Salmon, Kotzebue, Nome, Unalakeet
- •From Ketchikan to Barrow—if a plane or boat goes there, they'll deliver. This is their primary differentiator. Call for quotes on shipments from 0-220+ lbs. Hazmat charges apply per carrier regulations.
The Fairbanks range is a 25-yard facility rated up to .50 BMG caliber. Here's what you get:

Alaska Ammo enforces strict safety procedures:
- •Range Safety Officers on duty at all times
- •All firearms unloaded and cased until firing line
- •Eye and ear protection mandatory (earmuffs required, not just plugs)
- •Two people max per lane, one shooter at a time
- •No cross-lane shooting
- •Electronic target retrievers eliminate need to walk downrange
Prohibited ammunition types: - Steel core, armor piercing, green-tip/tracers - Incendiary, black powder, muzzleloaders - Buckshot, birdshot, or other shot projectiles - Any ammunition deemed unsafe by RSO
(Slugs in shotguns ARE permitted.)
- •Dress code enforced: Closed-toe shoes, long pants at waist level, no tank tops or hooded sweatshirts. No hoods inside the facility at any time.
First-time shooters: Arrive 15 minutes early to complete liability waiver and safety briefing. Available online to save time.
- •Minimum age 12 to shoot (with parent/guardian supervision if under 18)
- •Age 18+ to rent semi-auto/bolt-action rifles or pump/semi-auto shotguns
- •Age 21+ to rent handguns, suppressors, short-barrel rifles, or machine guns
- •Shooters 18-20 must be accompanied by someone 21+ to shoot handguns
Ammo purchases: 18+ for rifle/shotgun/air-rifle, 21+ for handgun/primers/powder.

- •Important: Only ship firearms. Don't include ammunition ($50 surcharge if you do). Loaded firearms incur $250 surcharge. They ship via FedEx or UPS; do NOT ship to California.
Firearms abandoned 18+ months are sold to cover storage fees (exception: deployed military arrangements). NFA items held 24+ months before storage fees apply.
