Full description and what we offer
Arizona Security Group operates a state-approved training facility at 2440 W. Medtronic Way in Tempe, Arizona. They focus on security guard certification, firearm training, and tactical instruction for people looking to start or advance a career in professional security.
Their program splits into two main paths:
Armed Security Guard Certification - 16-hour course for new guards and 4-year renewals ($175) - 8-hour refresher for annual requirements ($100) - Covers basic marksmanship, weapons care, mental conditioning, use of force, and Arizona Revised Statutes - Live-fire range qualification: 50-round minimum at 70% pass rate - Written exam required (70% minimum to pass) - Students bring their own duty weapon and ammunition
Unarmed Guard Card Training - 8-hour classroom course ($class pricing not specified in source) - Also available as online course (90 days to complete) - Covers essential knowledge for obtaining and maintaining Arizona Unarmed Guard Card
Beyond guard card work, they run dedicated handgun and defensive shooting courses:
| Course | Level | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Intro to Handguns (ASG-100) | Beginners | Classroom + live-fire, fundamentals focus, confidence-building |
| Arizona CCW Class | All levels | Non-shooting legal prep for concealed carry permit |
| Home Defense Training (ASG-101) | Intermediate+ | Requires prior handgun experience, live-fire drills, home threat scenarios |
The CCW course covers concealed carry laws, use-of-force guidelines, and post-incident legal situations. Students get documentation to apply directly through Arizona DPS.
They also offer: - ASP Tactical Baton training (hands-on street-ready techniques) - ASP Tactical Handcuff courses (control techniques, legal application) - Active Shooter Training (offered free to Arizona public schools) - Certified Security Supervisor courses (leadership and administrative skills) - Executive Protection Intro - Open-Source Intelligence Training
All firearm instruction from NRA-certified instructors. Training team includes USMC veterans with extensive security industry experience.
Contact: - Main: (480) 470-3619 - Range coordination: (602) 754-0964 - Saturday hours: 7:30 AM–5:30 PM - State License: AZ DPS 1564220
Firearm rentals available through C2 Tactical range partner (contact for rental fees). Students renting firearms must bring government-issued photo ID.
They're specific about requirements: If you fail a qualification, you may get a reduced-rate code to retake at the instructor's discretion. Second failure requires full-price re-registration. Out-of-state armed licenses don't count—Arizona requires an Arizona-issued card regardless of prior training.
Annual training for armed guards is mandatory (8-hour refresher every calendar year). The refresher covers mental conditioning, tactics, use of force review, statutes review, and shooting qualification.
"Train Today. Prepared Tomorrow." — Arizona Security Group tagline
Students who complete armed guard courses are eligible for Arizona Concealed Weapons Permits. ASG provides all required paperwork at no charge; Arizona DPS permit fee is currently $60.
