Arizona became a "Permitless Carry" state in 2010, meaning you can carry concealed without a permit. However:
- •Many locations still prohibit concealed carry without a permit
- •You have zero reciprocity in other states without an Arizona CWP
- •In a defensive shooting situation, liability exposure is substantially higher without a permit
- •The permit is valid for 5 years and costs $60 through Arizona Department of Public Safety
Anyone can attend—including those from other states and foreign nationals. To receive an Arizona permit, you must:
- •Be at least 21 years old (19 if active military or honorably discharged)
- •Be an Arizona resident or U.S. citizen
- •Pass multiple background checks
- •Submit two fingerprint cards, completed application, and $60 fee
Yes, you can take the class if you've never fired a gun. The curriculum covers shooting fundamentals from the ground up.
