# California Wheel Burners: Premier Action Shooting Club in Piru

California Wheel Burners is an active, welcoming action shooting club located near Piru Lake in the Los Angeles area. Originally established in 1994, this community-focused club promotes both revolver and rimfire shooting sports through monthly sanctioned matches and informal competitions.

The club operates multiple shooting events throughout the month:

• •ICORE Matches (2nd Saturday) - International Confederation of Revolver Enthusiasts sanctioned events featuring 5-6 stages with steel, paper, and action targets. Centerfire semiauto pistols, rimfire handguns/rifles, and pistol caliber carbines also welcome in separate scoring categories.

• •RCSA Matches (1st Saturday) - Rimfire Challenge Shooting Association steel matches for .22 handguns and rifles, plus Steel Challenge and Two Gun Centerfire competitions. 8-10 stages designed for all skill levels.

• •Hosefest Match (4th Saturday) - High-energy "run and gun" format featuring large stages with high round counts, diverse designs, and lots of movement and reloading.

The range is located at California Tactical Academy (CTA) near Piru Lake and features: - Outdoor firing line and target areas - Separate rifle, pistol, and archery ranges - Ample parking area - Professional match organization and safety oversight

Club events are open to all - membership is not required. New shooters are especially welcomed and guided through matches to ensure safety and enjoyment. Loaner gear and firearms can be made available if needed. The club represents diverse skill levels from beginners to experienced competitors.

Standard match fees are $30 (juniors under 18 are $15), with additional guns at $15 each. Sign-ups begin at 8:00 AM, with shooters meetings at 8:30 AM and shooting starting at 9:00 AM. Cash payment only at the range. The Hosefest match requires advance registration through PractiScore.
