Golden Ram Sportsman's Club has been California's hunting destination for over 50 years. Founded by hunters for hunters, they operate 14 ranches and manage 125,000+ deeded acres across Northern and Central California—making them the oldest club of their type in America.
Membership includes: - Access to 125,000+ deeded acres across 14 ranches - Year-round camping and fishing privileges - Bass and catfish fishing on private lakes - Hunting for deer, pig, bear, turkey, geese, ducks, pheasant, dove, and quail - Reservation system to avoid overcrowding - Private duck blinds in refuge flyways - Three membership tiers: Individual, Family, and Corporate - Full Club or Fishing-only membership options
Big Game Ranches: - Bar Z Ranch (24,000 acres near Covelo) — Archery and rifle deer, black bear, turkey, mountain quail. 6-acre lake with black bass and bluegill. - Hedgepath Ranch (11,000 acres, B-Zone near Covelo) — Trophy blacktail bucks on North Fork of Eel River. Open 7 days/week for archery and rifle seasons. Black bear, turkey, and mountain quail. - Challenge Ranch (14,000 acres, D3-5 zone near Brownsville) — Excellent deer populations. Open Thursday-Sunday for archery and rifle. - Timberland Ranch (21,000 acres in Mendocino County) — Open all year, 7 days/week. Deer, bear, bandtail pigeon, quail, turkey. Only 4 miles to coast. - Timberland West (11,000 acres, A-zone) — Old-growth timber stands with deer, bear, bandtail pigeon, quail, and turkey. - Los Colorados Ranch (2,700 acres near Lompoc) — A-zone for pigs, varmint, dove, and deer (3 points or better). Open Thursday noon to Sunday noon. - Pacifico Ranch (2,500+ acres, A-zone near Lompoc) — Hogs, deer, varmint, dove. Thursday noon to Sunday noon. - Ten Mile Creek Ranch (18,000 acres in Mendocino County) — Year-round hunting, 7 days/week. Deer, bear, bandtail pigeon, quail, turkey. - Beaver Creek Ranch (5,000 acres, B6-Zone) — B-Zone deer hunting on Scott River property near Callahan.
Specialty Ranches: - Archery-only properties — Three dedicated bow-hunting ranches hunted year-round in crowd-free conditions - Foot-hunt-only ranches — Trophy blacktail properties with no vehicle traffic allowed - Duck blinds — Seven waterfowl properties in Northern California refuge flyways (Sutter, Delevan, Gray Lodge, Little Dry Creek) - Fishing ranches — Two private lakes stocked year-round with Florida black bass
New hunters and trophy seekers can book guided hunts with experienced outfitters: - Columbian Black Tail Deer — 3-day hunts near Covelo ($12,500 value raffle available) - Tule Elk — Elite guided trophy hunts - Wild Hogs — Spot-and-stalk hunts across multiple ranches - Black Bear — Guided hunts on B-Zone and coastal properties - Turkey — Spring season guided hunts - Russian Pigs — Specialty guided opportunities
Guides provide instruction in long-range shooting, field craft, and wilderness skills. Accommodations and meals included on guided packages.
Overhunting Management: - Lottery system for B-Zone opener (busiest weekend) - Three-points-or-better rule on most deer ranches - Alternating monthly closures on some pig ranches - Traffic redirection to uncrowded properties
Family Weekend is held the third weekend in June at Hedgepath Ranch. Kids can shoot rifles, shotguns, and bows under instructor supervision, learn wilderness survival, and participate in organized activities.
Payment & Enrollment: - Payment plans available, but membership begins only after full payment received - Annual fees due on membership anniversary - Renewal must be in place before anniversary to maintain hunting privileges and insurance coverage - New members receive membership card with gate codes and ranch access information
Ranch Access: - Call office before trips for gate codes, directions, and current conditions - Drop-in access available at duck blinds if empty less than 30 minutes before shooting time - Quads and UTVs allowed on most ranches; must stay on established roads - Some smallest ranches are foot-hunting only - Hunter limits per ranch range from 2 (smallest) to 50 (largest) - All hunting uses over-the-counter tags
Family Access: - Non-hunting family members can camp and fish with individual membership holders - Kids welcome on family weekend and can participate in shooting sports instruction
