Golden Gate JOAD Archery Club

Golden Gate JOAD is an all-volunteer club bringing archery to Bay Area kids and adults. Based at the Golden Gate Park Archery Range, they've built a program that teaches recreational and competitive archery using structured coaching and the National Training System.

• •Beginner lessons - New archer instruction (minimum age 8). Lessons fill quickly with waitlist typical. First 2026 lesson March 7th, weather permitting.
• •Advanced instruction - Bi-monthly NTS Advanced Archery lessons covering the 11 steps of shooting. Open to existing club members only.
• •Equipment lending - Collection of ILF limbs in different weights for members to try new draw weights without buying new limbs. (Risers not available to loan.)
• •Coached practice - Every Saturday 9-11am at GGP Archery Field
• •Competition shoots - Regular scored shoots where archers earn achievement pins. Special events include their annual Halloween shoot.
• •League competitions - Structured competitive opportunities throughout the year

Lesson fees go directly back into the program: equipment replacement, coach uniforms, pizza for volunteers, and materials for maintaining the Golden Gate Park archery field bales. They work monthly with SF Parks and Rec on field maintenance.

Prospective members must take a new archer lesson before joining. The minimum age is 8 years old.
