J & K Firearms Training operates out of Hollister, California, offering instruction from two USCCA and NRA certified handgun instructors who are also NRA Chief Range Safety Officers. Janet Norris and Kriss Costa are approved vendors for San Benito County Sheriff's Office CCW permit training and chapter leaders for both the Hollister and Silicon Valley chapters of The Well Armed Woman.

Coed Introduction to Handguns ($250) - 8.5 hours over two days (4.5 hours classroom, 4 hours range) - Max 8 students per class - Day 1 covers handgun types, ammunition, legal aspects, safe storage, and marksmanship fundamentals - Day 2: Live range instruction on six different handguns (Browning .22, Sig Sauer P238 .380, Sig Sauer P229 9mm, Springfield XD 9mm, 1911 .45, S&W .38 revolver) - Includes all firearms, ammunition, range fees, and eye/ear protection - California Firearm Safety Certification available ($15 state fee)
Concealed Carry Permit Classes - Approved by San Benito County Sheriff's Office - New Permit: 16 hours, $375 (covers up to 2 firearms; $10 each additional) - Renewal: 8 hours, $200 (covers up to 2 firearms; $10 each additional) - Live fire qualification includes drawing from holster and support-hand shooting - Classes offered monthly throughout 2026
Women's Introduction to Handguns ("For Women by Women") - Same comprehensive curriculum as coed intro - Taught by female instructors - Scheduled six times in 2026 - Held at Reed's Indoor Range
Skill Builders & Add Firearms to CCW - Skill builder sessions for continued development - Add additional firearms to existing CCW permit: $50 + $10 per firearm - Custom scheduling available
They deliberately expose new shooters to multiple calibers, grip sizes, and action types during intro classes—not just one gun. Their two-day format for intro classes gives students time to absorb information without overwhelm. For students intimidated by larger calibers, they step back to the .22 without judgment. The instructors are known for being knowledgeable but also approachable and encouraging.
