Marin Rod and Gun Club

Founded in 1926, the Marin Rod and Gun Club started with just 35 members and has grown to over 1,200 active members committed to conservation, preservation, and propagation of fish and game across Marin County and California.

The club operates 55 acres of uplands and tide-lands at Point San Quentin on San Pablo Bay, offering members exclusive access to some of Northern California's best fishing and outdoor recreation.

The heart of the club is a fishing pier stretching nearly half a mile into San Pablo Bay, open daily from sunrise to sunset exclusively for members, families, and guests. Anglers regularly land:

• •Striped bass
• •Perch
• •Sturgeon
• •Halibut

The pier is maintained year-round and provides consistent access to productive fishing grounds with dedicated parking and amenities.

The club operates and maintains a dedicated archery range with:

• •Eight 4'x4' Rinehart targets
• •Shooting lanes from 20 to 80 yards
• •Member-only access via annual range fee
• •Regular archery competitions and BBQ events
• •Guest privileges for members

Archers gain access by paying the annual range fee, signing the waiver, and receiving a master lock code from the archery team.

The clubhouse was built in 1956 and serves as the hub for member activities:

• •Full kitchen and bar
• •Meeting hall accommodating up to 350 seated guests
• •BBQ and picnic grounds
• •Boat ramp with member-only parking
• •Available for private event rentals

The club has been instrumental in shaping fish and game protection since its founding. Notable achievements include:

• •Prohibition of commercial striped bass fishing in California waters
• •Habitat restoration efforts to restore native oyster populations to San Pablo Bay
• •Environmental DNA (eDNA) monitoring of endangered species
• •Pollution prevention in local bays and streams

Club representatives regularly attend legislative hearings in Sacramento to protect member interests and advocate for sportsmen.

The club awards annual graduate scholarships in conservation, wildlife management, and related fields. The organization also supports:
