The course is centrally located in the San Luis Valley between Alamosa and Monte Vista, nestled between the Sangre de Cristo and San Juan mountain ranges. They've expanded electrical plug-in locations for RV trailers, making it easy to plan a shooting weekend while exploring the valley's attractions.
Del Monte hosts shoots that draw participants from across five counties — Alamosa, Rio Grande, Mineral, Saguache, and Conejos, plus out-of-valley shooters. They work with 4-H groups, the Colorado Division of Wildlife, and Adams State Shooting Club. School clubs and civic organizations often serve meals at events as fundraisers, helping local groups advance their projects.
The entire club is operated by volunteer labor from club members. They're a non-profit corporation registered with the Colorado Secretary of State since May 28, 1948.
