Gypsum Creek Outfitters operates out of 8001 Gypsum Creek Road in Gypsum, Colorado, in the heart of GMU 044—a unit known for world-class mule deer genetics and healthy elk and black bear populations. Founded in 1992, the outfitting business was taken over by owner Tim Andrews after he fell into hunting almost by accident at a Sunday dinner. He's since built a team of hand-selected guides and turned his archery elk obsession into a full-service operation.

• •Mule Deer Hunts — GMU 044 produces 200+ inch bucks regularly. Gypsum Creek spends all summer scouting to locate giants, then hunts archery, muzzleloader, and rifle seasons. They base out of their ranch cabins for mobility and will camp or sleep on the ground to maximize opportunities on the best bucks.

• •Elk Hunts — Early season archery in dark timber, late season rifle in open country, or multi-day backcountry pack trips. Elk are thick here—clients routinely see multiple bulls daily. Tim's background is archery elk, and his elk calling knowledge comes from years building calls and learning from Drew Rouse.

• •Black Bear Hunts — Colorado tags don't require drawing. Gypsum Creek hunts berry bushes and oak brush in lower country, then water holes and denning areas as bears move to hibernation. The unit produces quality bears and state-record potential.

• •Backcountry & Cabin Hunts — Hunt from 5-day backpack camps or return to private cabins on the ranch with hot tubs, fondue dinners, and mountain views. Both options cover hundreds of acres of National Forest.

Gypsum Creek offers Colorado Backcountry Precision instruction—rifle and archery coaching to make every shot count at any distance. Whether you're shooting a mule deer at 600 yards or calling in a bull at 50, the guides teach you the reps and fundamentals needed to execute.

If you've drawn a tag but can't scout the offseason, or you need unit knowledge before your hunt, Gypsum Creek offers scouting trips and consulting. They have guides positioned around the unit in every season and can walk you through unit maps or take you into the field.

Owner and Sr. Guide Tim Andrews leads a crew that includes Colin Rouaud (Sr. Guide, Manager), Gary Brown (Sr. Guide, Wrangler), Joshua Warren (Sr. Guide, Wrangler), and Davis Brown (Sr. Guide). Ginny Blalock Andrews runs the ranch and cooks all meals in camp. Tim deliberately limits hunter numbers every season to maximize opportunity and quality—he specifically doesn't book far in advance so he can review each season and improve.

The ranch offers standalone cabin rentals—side-by-side accessible or horseback/snowshoe access. Perfect for weekend getaways with hot tub soaks and mountain views.
