Full description and what we offer
Dan and Tracy Ardrey built Kiowa Creek Outfitters from their basement in 2004 into a full-scale operation with its own lodge. What started as guiding on private ranches has evolved into a tight crew of guides and their families, all bound by a shared passion for hunting and the outdoors. They've expanded from their Elbert, Colorado base into Game Units 104, 105, 106, 122, 137, and 146.
Kiowa Creek doesn't rely on public land or high-fence operations. They lease across 24 different private ranches ranging from 400 to 27,000 acres. This scale means they can hunt varied terrain as animals migrate for weather and feed—and they don't over-hunt any single property.
"We manage our wild resident herds by knowing our properties and targeting only the most mature, big bucks we can locate." – From their website
40,000+ acres across Game Units 104/105/122/146/137
Rifle hunters see 95% success rates on mature trophy mule deer. Archery hunters average 70% success over 18 years. They target mature bucks and deliberately let smaller deer grow into trophy class. Small camps of 4-6 hunters per week allow guides to customize each hunt.
- •Rifle, archery, and black powder options
- •22 consecutive seasons on the Eastern Plains
- •World-class muleys regularly taken
- •Genetics and age class of herds are exceptional
60,000+ acres with 100% opportunity rates on quality bucks
They target bucks 13-14" or better. Hunters routinely see 100+ animals per day. Speed goats are fast and unpredictable, making them one of their most exciting hunts. The 2-day format is action-packed—you'll see plenty of game, and your success depends on your shooting proficiency.
- •Archery, muzzleloader, and rifle hunts
- •100% opportunity rate on quality bucks
- •Small herds of 4-6 hunters
- •High visibility and high action
They hunt trophy bulls on the Eastern Plains. When they locate a mature bull, elk hunters get called to be ready. These opportunities come when conditions align.
Spring and fall turkey hunts available on their private land network.
