The Northern Colorado Rod & Gun Club started in 1948 as a merger of four sportsmen groups from Fort Collins, Loveland, Greeley, and Estes Park. They've operated from their current 14-acre location on Owl Canyon Road (off US 287) since 1970, building a reputation as a genuine community resource for shooters of all levels.
The club maintains five separate shooting areas:
- •Rifle Range - Long-range and precision shooting
- •Pistol Range - Handgun training and practice
- •Shotgun Fields - Skeet and trap shooting
- •Archery Range - Bow hunting and target archery
- •Tactical Bays - Specialized scenarios (certification required)
They're not just a private club—NCRGC runs public matches and events throughout the year:

Household memberships include adults (18+), spouses per Colorado law, and children under 18 in the household. Members get:

- •Reduced fees on public matches and events
- •Guest policy: 12 guests per year (max 2 per visit)
- •Discounted Range Safety Officer training
- •Access to the Instructor Program
- •Civilian Marksmanship Program affiliation for firearm and ammunition purchases
The club is organized as a 501(c)(7) nonprofit for pleasure and recreation—no profits go to individual members.
Beyond just shooting, NCRGC focuses on safe handling, marksmanship improvement, hunting education, conservation, and building sportsmanship among members and the public. They work actively to help landowners and hunters understand wildlife management.
