American Mil Spec Defense runs firearms safety courses designed specifically for people working toward concealed carry permits. Most states—including Connecticut and Florida—require NRA-certified training before you can apply for a pistol permit. This is that course.
The course certificate is needed for your permit application process. It does not grant you a permit itself—contact your local county or state office to confirm this course meets their specific requirements.

- •Pistol types and selecting your first firearm
- •Ammunition basics
- •Shooting fundamentals and positions
- •Common shooting errors and how to fix them
- •Proper cleaning and maintenance
- •Skills maintenance going forward
- •Single-Day Classes: 8AM–5PM (one intensive day)
- •Evening Classes: Two consecutive nights, 5:30PM–9:30PM each (must attend both)
Both formats end with an official NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate in hand.
