Quaker Hill Rod & Gun Club has been a fixture in eastern Connecticut for over 75 years. What started as a community shooting club has evolved into a full-service facility with nine distinct ranges and year-round competitive events. The club is family-oriented, with active programs for juniors and women, plus regular hunting opportunities for members.
Membership Requirements: - Must be 18 years or older - Good character (application required) - $100 application fee - Apply online at their website
The outdoor rifle range handles the heavy hitters with three distance options: 50, 100, and 200 yards. Covered shooting area accommodates 8 shooters. Any non-exploding, non-incendiary rifle round accepted (armor piercing rounds prohibited on steel gongs). Runs service rifle matches, running deer competitions, and silhouette matches.
Two distinct areas with flexibility: - Bowling pin tables — .22 rimfire, medium bore, and large bore options with resettable steel plate racks at 50 feet - Open range — Freestanding targets for cardboard and paper shooting
No jacketed ammo restrictions. Weekly bowling pin matches (Monday evenings April–September, Saturday afternoons October–December). Monthly rimfire plate matches (last Sunday of month, April–October). Weekly USPSA-style matches every Saturday morning year-round — 4-stage format, max 100 rounds, all skill levels welcome. Setup at 8:30am, first shot at 10am, typically done by 2pm. Important restrictions: - No alcohol anywhere on property - No drawing from holster (unless part of club-sanctioned activity under certified range safety officer supervision) - Lead ammunition only on indoor ranges - All members expected to maintain facility as if it were their own
