Dover Rod & Gun Club is a community-focused shooting and outdoor sports facility located in Delaware, offering comprehensive youth and adult programs. This established club provides archery training, trap shooting, fishing derbies, and seasonal hunting-related activities in a welcoming environment.
About the Club
Dover Rod & Gun Club operates with a mission to provide a "peaceable and secure environment" for members to pursue hunting, fishing, target shooting, archery, and associated outdoor activities while maintaining conservation principles.
Youth Programs
The club places strong emphasis on youth engagement with several offerings:
- •Youth Archery Program - Basic archery training for ages 7-17, held Tuesday evenings (6:30-7:30 PM) from September through May. Non-members pay $5 per session
- •Kids Fishing Derby - Annual event for ages 1-17 held in July with free entry and prizes for all participants, supported by local businesses
- •Advanced Archery & Spring Break Programs - Periodically offered when volunteers are available
Shooting Activities
Archery Options: - Indoor archery target shooting every Wednesday (6:30-8:30 PM) for all ages - 3-D archery shoots generally offered February-March - Equipment rental and damaged arrow replacement available
Trap Shooting: - Wednesday night outdoor trap shoots (weather permitting) - Easter and Christmas annual shoots - $5 per shoot
Membership & Fees
The club operates on a membership model with discounted rates for members. Youth archery program non-members pay $5 per session. Various shooting activities have modest fees ranging from $2-$10.
Community Events
Annual events include rabbit suppers, Valentine's cornish hen supper and dance, muskrat suppers, Good Friday perch dinner, and a golf tournament.
