Full description and what we offer
Ares Training Facility operates as a membership-based outdoor range with public day-use available. The facility sits on 100 acres near Leesburg, Florida—roughly an hour from Orlando, Ocala, Tampa, and Jacksonville.
The setup splits across two main ranges:
| Range | Distance | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Main Range | 0–400 yards | Pistol, rifles, concealed carry practice |
| Long Range | Out to 850 yards | Precision rifle, distance shooting |
Shooters can set up anywhere along the distance spectrum, making it flexible for handgun drills, mid-range rifle work, or true long-distance precision.
Shooting stops at 5 pm Wednesday–Saturday, 3 pm Sunday. Range stays open in bad weather unless severe conditions force closures. Closed Mondays, Tuesdays, and the 1st Sunday of each month.
Multiple instructors operate from the facility, offering:
Not sure what to carry? Ares offers handgun trials where you can test various pistols and revolvers from their collection before buying. Want something wild? They also arrange experiences with Class 3 full-auto machine guns and .50 caliber rifles—instruction included from NRA-certified shooters. Book in advance; no firearms kept on-site.
Members get unlimited range access during business hours, access to additional ranges, discounts on targets/stands, and guest discounts.
Non-Members can day-use the Main Range (0–400 yards) for all firearm types. No prior membership required.
"We are primarily a membership range, but we do allow the public to visit Ares for their firearms training needs."
Everyone signs a waiver (online or on-site) and watches a 15-minute safety video before touching a gun. Plan accordingly—this requirement applies to every person on property, even non-shooters.
Ares actively supports local charities and pro-2A organizations. They host regular events and shooting competitions throughout the year, some free, others ticketed.
