Own Citrus County Tax Collector?
01 // DETAILS
Full description and what we offer
The Citrus County Tax Collector partners with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to process concealed weapon license applications and renewals. This isn't a gun store or range—it's the official government office where you complete your CWL paperwork.
First-time applicants complete their application at a computer station in the office, get photographed, and are electronically fingerprinted. The entire process takes less than an hour. Pre-screening catches errors or omissions before submission to FDACS, which reduces delays.
Eligibility is determined by FDACS, not the Tax Collector's office. Applicants must demonstrate firearm competency through one of Florida's acceptable training courses.
Florida concealed weapon licenses are valid for seven years. You'll receive a renewal notice about 95 days before expiration. Bring your license number (or renewal notice), state photo ID, and any legal name change documentation. Late renewals are accepted up to six months after expiration for a $15 fee, but licenses expired longer than six months require a full new application.
For first-time applications: - Valid U.S. government photo ID (driver's license, passport, military ID, tribal ID, or equivalent) - Proof of firearm training/competency - Certified court documentation if you've been arrested - Citizenship or residency documentation if applicable
