Full description and what we offer
Top Shot Firearms Academy specializes in developing NRA-certified instructors and training responsible gun owners. Their core mission: teach people to teach others using official NRA lesson plans and training standards.
The program runs two phases: - Basic instructor training: 6 hours - Discipline-specific training: 5-14 hours per discipline (rifle, pistol, shotgun)
Complete multi-discipline certification typically requires 40+ hours. Students receive NRA Trainer's Guide, instructor candidate packets, lesson plans, and student materials for their specific disciplines.
You'll demonstrate firearm knowledge through practical exercises and written certification exams. Minimum score: 90% for certified instructors (85% for assistant/apprentice level). The NRA Training Counselor evaluates your knowledge, skills, and teaching ability—a passing grade doesn't automatically guarantee certification.
Initial credentials last two years, then you'll need to log training hours and complete an online NRA Trainer Refresher every other year to stay current.

"The NRA Instructor Training Course is designed to teach you how to teach others to shoot—not to improve your own shooting skills."
