Full description and what we offer
The EDC Guy Academy trains the everyday person who carries—not tactical operators or competition shooters. Everything focuses on concealed carry fundamentals, firearm safety, and the mindset needed to actually use a pistol defensively.
Most cheap group classes cram 20+ people onto a range and call it training. You barely touch your gun. The EDC Guy caps classes at 3 students maximum because quality time beats quantity every time. That means actual one-on-one coaching, proper range time, and confidence you actually earn.
"We understand training is an investment and not an expense. In this industry you get what you pay for."
Concealed Carry Course (Firearm Safety) - 3 hours total: 1.5 hours classroom, 1.5 hours on the range - All materials included: firearm, ammunition, hearing protection, targets - Maximum 3 students - $117 service fee (plus $97 Florida Department of Agriculture fee)
You start with firearm safety fundamentals in the classroom, then move to the range to apply what you learned. You walk out with a Certificate of Completion needed for your Florida CCW application.
Defensive Pistol Essentials - $100 per person - For shooters with some experience who want to actually improve - Covers: economy of motion, stance, grip, mindset, trigger control - Prerequisite to entry-level defensive training - You must bring your own 9mm, .40, or .45 with ammunition
Entry Level Defensive Pistol Course - $167 per person ($150 in groups) - For anyone ready to move past basics - Teaches drawing from holster, proper stance and grip, shot placement, shooting under stress, engaging threats - Outdoor range training with real-world drills (ATM drill, vehicle drill, draw/shoot scenarios) - Requires: valid CCW license, hard IWB holster (appendix or side carry), 500 rounds of ammunition, 3+ magazines, proper belt and footwear
Shooting Lessons (1-on-1) - $85 per person - All materials included - Fundamentals-focused instruction in a comfortable, safe environment - Can be booked solo or in small groups
Can't get to the range? The EDC Guy offers online consulting via Zoom for firearm information, purchasing advice, and training questions. Especially useful when ranges are at capacity.
The Academy publishes a Dry Fire Training Video Series covering: - Introduction to dry fire - Essential dry fire skills - Magazine loading - Firearm clearing procedures - Trigger control - Draw techniques - Coming soon: layering and off-body carry
All videos use verified unloaded firearms. Zero live ammunition needed for practice.
Pembroke Gun Range in Hallandale is the primary venue. Ron specifically chose this range because they allow adequate class time without feeling rushed.
The EDC Guy Academy partners with USCCA (United States Concealed Carry Association)—the top concealed carry organization in America. This partnership means students get access to USCCA's training standards and, critically, their legal defense coverage if you ever have to use your firearm.
Once you train here, you're not done. Ron provides ongoing support—consultation, questions, even if you have to defend yourself. The relationship doesn't end after class. Students describe Ron as professional, knowledgeable, patient, and thorough.
