VZ uses proprietary laminate materials (G-10, Micarta, carbon fiber) made to their specifications in the USA. These aren't off-the-shelf materials—they're engineered composites with higher tensile strength than steel. The same material is used in tornado shelters and being tested for aircraft cockpit door armor.
