Full description and what we offer
Athens Area Habitat for Humanity builds and renovates homes for families facing housing insecurity in Clarke County, Georgia. Their model centers on partnership: families work alongside volunteers to build sweat equity, then pay back affordable mortgages so others can be helped.
In 2019, Habitat launched the Ladies' Charity Skeet Classic, a National Skeet Shooting Association tournament that drew competitors from 13 states. The inaugural Georgia event raised $24,165—enough to renovate an entire rental unit for a formerly homeless veteran or fund one-fourth of a new construction.
"All the ladies said they had such a great time, and they'll be bringing friends next year. We'd like to grow it so that we can fund an entire house." — Tournament Director Tami Daniel-Means
Events included 12-gauge, 20-gauge, 28-gauge, doubles, and specialty shoots (Annie Oakley, Frank Butler) across skeet, trap, 5-stand, and pistol ranges at South River Gun Club.
Kinda Tiny Home Initiative — The first of its kind in Clarke County, these homes are LEED certified and environmentally designed. They represent Habitat's push toward innovative housing solutions and sustainable building practices in the region.
