Shooting Strategies operates a training program serving Athens, Monroe, and the greater Atlanta area across multiple Georgia counties. The operation is member-affiliated with Crisis Application Group and reseller of RAGE Tactical equipment.
Richard W. — Certified NRA Pistol and Personal Protection Instructor, plus USCCA-certified. His background includes nearly a decade in mixed martial arts and submission grappling (achieved Shodan rank under Eagle Combat Systems founder Gary Brown). This grappling foundation informs his unarmed combatives and self-defense instruction alongside firearms courses.
Cy N. — NRA Pistol Instructor and licensed pilot (fixed-wing and helicopter). Also operates Fair Weather Farms, which hosts many of the outdoor training events.
Clark S. — Oconee County Sheriff's Deputy and certified firearms instructor. Owner/operator of Sparrow Defense.

One signature offering covers prevailing in low-light environments. The course runs a minimum of 4 hours and requires 250 rounds minimum ammunition. Instruction covers:
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Handgun Manipulation, Armed Citizen, or NRA Personal Protection Inside the Home.
The course emphasizes real-world tragedy prevention: accidental shootings of family members in low-light scenarios can be prevented with a $30 flashlight and proper training.
Ladies Only Training — Female-focused classes on request, covering topics like concealed carry options for women, armed/unarmed self-defense, and home defense. Female assistant instructors assist with demonstrations.
Unarmed Combatives — Rooted in Richard's MMA background (1998-2010 competition and coaching history). Topics include: - Rape prevention seminars - Situational awareness (male and female civilian focus) - Unarmed self-defense - Edged weapon defense - No-Gi submission grappling for competition - Mixed martial arts
Law Enforcement & Agency Training — Shooting Strategies has worked with multiple central Georgia agencies and departments on: - Defensive tactics - Situational awareness and officer safety - Takedowns, positional control, handcuffing - Small arms weapons retention, disarming, deployment - Firearm presentation - Cell extraction techniques

Most courses require participants to bring: - Their own firearms (handgun, rifle, or both depending on course) - Minimum 2-3 magazines per firearm - Holster appropriate to firearm and setup - Magazine carrier - 250+ rounds ammunition per course - Flashlight(s) with extra batteries (for low-light courses) - Weapon-mounted light (suggested, not required) - Eye/ear protection (provided if needed) - Notepad and pen - Hat with brim - Long sleeves (brass ejection can burn exposed skin) - Tennis shoes or boots suitable for movement

Courses deliver electronic certificates of completion. Home defense courses (single and two-person) include printed manuals: the Single Person Close Quarters Battle Manual and Two-Person Close Quarters Battle Manual.
