Chatuge Gun Club

Chatuge Gun Club operates one of Georgia's most accessible shooting facilities on U.S. Forest Service land under a Special Use Permit dating back to 1981. Located in Towns County near the summit of Brasstown Bald Mountain—Georgia's highest peak at 4,784 feet—the range offers serious shooters a mountain setting with consistent conditions.

The facility features a 10-position covered concrete firing line with shooting benches. Members can engage targets at distances from 7 to 100 yards by repositioning target holders. Access is 24/7 via key card for current members during daylight hours.

• •Weekly Competitions: The club runs friendly matches throughout the year, accommodating everything from muzzleloaders to semi-auto rifles. Most events are free for both members and non-members. Specific match schedules and past results are available on their website.

• •Training & Instruction: The club roster includes 25+ NRA-certified instructors covering various shooting disciplines. Range officers and club officers can direct you to training that matches your skill level and interests.

• •Winter Airgun Program: During cooler months (roughly December-February), scored 10-meter air rifle and air pistol matches give shooters a different competitive outlet.

• •Range Rules Matter: All firearms must be transported in closed cases. Guns are loaded/unloaded only on shooting benches with muzzles downrange during active shooting. No incendiary, tracer, or exploding ammunition. Gate key cards should never go near phone charging areas ($25 replacement fee if damaged).

The club presents friendly competition on a weekly basis and these competitions are open to anyone wishing to participate as long as basic range safety rules are followed.
