Hawaii Defense Foundation teaches the basics of safe firearms handling through structured classroom instruction. They run two core courses:

• •Basic Handgun Safety Course — Introduction to firearms covering inner mechanics, proper handling, and safety fundamentals. Designed to ensure you can safely operate a handgun before you own one.

• •Basic Multigun Safety Course — Expands on the handgun curriculum to include rifles and shotguns. Many students take this to explore which platform suits them best before making a purchase.

1. Register through their Eventbrite link 2. Submit a photo of your government-issued ID to [email protected] 3. Complete the course 4. Receive a legal affidavit of firearms training

The affidavit is a formal document HPD uses to verify you've been properly trained. It speeds up permit processing and is recognized statewide.
