Shadow Dawg Firearms Academy

Shadow Dawg Firearms Academy operates at 5283 S. Missoula Way, Boise, ID 83709 and serves Meridian, Kuna, Eagle, and the greater Boise area. They focus on one thing: teaching people to shoot well while keeping safety non-negotiable.

This isn't a one-person operation. The academy has seven certified NRA instructors:

• •Elaine Bowles — NRA Training Counselor certified in Basic Pistol, Personal Protection In/Outside Home, Range Safety Officer. Winchester/NRA Distinguished Expert in Pistol. Former Treasure Valley chapter leader for The Well Armed Woman. Builds her own AR-15s and makes tactical knives.

• •Ed Bowles — NRA Training Counselor with certifications in Basic Pistol, PPITH, PPOTH, Basic Rifle, Basic Shotgun, Range Safety Officer, and Chief Range Safety Officer. Distinguished Expert in Pistol and Defensive Pistol. Developed the academy's non-lethal ammunition training program.

• •Nate Muir — NRA Certified Instructor in Basic Pistol, Personal Protection courses, and Basic Rifle. Achieved Distinguished Expert at Front Sight's 4-day pistol class. BSU graduate working on his master's degree.

• •Brian Zimmerman — NRA Certified in Basic Pistol, PPITH, and Basic Rifle. Teaches at a local private college. Known for breaking complex subjects into fundamentals.

• •Levi Dennis — NRA Certified in Basic Pistol, PPITH, PPOTH, and Range Safety Officer. Years of range officer experience. Assistant manager at Impact Guns.

• •Ian Wise — NRA Certified in Basic Pistol, PPITH, Basic Shotgun, and Basic Rifle. Glock Armorer. Military veteran. Winchester/NRA Distinguished Expert in Defensive Pistol.

• •J P — Retired LEO certified by California to train armed security. Worked as a detective in Compton. Specializes in Active Shooter training. Advises executive security details.

Shadow Dawg understands that beginners can feel apprehensive. Their classroom environment is relaxed and comfortable—you're taught from a private citizen perspective, not a tactical operator perspective. Instructors coach students through Winchester/NRA skill ratings, and the focus stays on safety at every level.

The academy also runs Shadow Dawg Pack, a free community shooting club led by academy instructors.
