October Country

October Country started in 1977 with a single handcrafted shooting bag in Colorado Springs. By 1984, the business moved to North Idaho with little more than cow horns, leather, a few tools, and two sewing machines they still use today. From those humble beginnings, they now run a 2,500 sq ft shop in Dalton Gardens.

Their October Country Big Bore Sporting Rifle delivers the most power of any traditional muzzleloader manufactured today. Based on principles from Lt. James Forsythe's "The Sporting Rifle and Its Projectiles," these rifles use massive charges of black powder with large bore round balls.

"With the suggested maximum charge of 210 grains of FFg black powder, muzzle velocities exceed 1,800 fps."

The rifles feature English L & R locks, Moody barrels, and glass-bedded barrel channels. Available in calibers from .62 to .75, they've proven themselves on everything from elk and grizzly to Cape buffalo.
