Illinois Junior Precision Shooters (IJPS) is a junior athletic association founded in 2004, dedicated to developing the next generation of competitive precision pistol athletes. Located in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and partnering with RKA Gun Gallery, IJPS provides world-class training in NRA Bullseye Precision Pistol competition.
IJPS offers a comprehensive range of programs designed to develop competitive shooters:
Competitive precision pistol training develops: - Patience and mental discipline - Physical control and marksmanship fundamentals - Safety awareness and responsible firearm handling - Goal-setting and organizational skills - Problem-solving and sportsmanship - Competition-level accuracy and consistency
IJPS welcomes team candidates ages 13-20 interested in becoming competitive precision pistol athletes. Prior familiarity with .22 caliber semi-automatic pistols is helpful but not required. All athletes must maintain membership in the National Rifle Association (NRA) and Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA).
The team primarily shoots Ruger 22/45s, Mark II, and Mark III pistols (5.5" barrels) modified for precision shooting. Any accurate .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol capable of 1.25-inch, 10-shot groups at 50 yards is acceptable. Team equipment is available for members without personal firearms.
IJPS has earned a 10-year streak of Illinois State Junior Precision Pistol Championships and has produced multiple state champions, Double Distinguished Experts, and certified NRA pistol instructors.
