Full description and what we offer
Illinois Connection operates guided trophy whitetail hunts across the Golden Triangle—Pike, Brown, Adams, and Schuyler Counties in Mid West Central Illinois, positioned between the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers. The outfitter manages over 16,000 acres of private land with one stated goal: producing mature, trophy-class bucks.
The operation enforces strict antler minimums and limits hunter numbers each season—a deliberate strategy. Owner Doug Benefield prioritizes client success and antler quality over volume. Properties sit unused much of the time, meaning less pressure on the deer herd and healthier mature bucks.
In the last 16 seasons: 80 gross-scoring Boone & Crockett bucks (12 in the 200s, 12 in the 190s, 10 in the 180s, 46 in the 170s)
Land management includes: - Over 1,000 hunting stands - Strategic food plot placement (Infinity by Whitetail Select blend) - Scouting camera inventory across properties - Limited seasonal hunter allocation
The main lodge operates as a hunting resort—not a bare-bones camp. Amenities include a full bar, pool table, fountain drink dispenser, leather furniture, log accents, field stone fireplace, and custom hardwood floors. Dinner centers on hunters sharing the day's details and planning for next morning.
Tracker John handles blood tracking for harvested deer. The outfit provides: - Detailed hunt information - Supply lists for guests - Moon phase tracking - Weather forecasts at the lodge - References available upon request
