Full description and what we offer

Silent Dawn Tactical is a veteran-owned and operated family business teaching the effective, legal, and ethical use of firearms and self-defense tactics. Founded by Joshua Cadenbach, a former US Army Airborne Ranger with the 2nd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment, the company combines military combat experience with civilian training expertise.

Josh deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq conducting assault team and Combat Search and Rescue missions before founding the company in 2019. Beyond his military background, he holds a BJJ Black Belt from Gracie Barra and is a Level 8 Commando Krav Maga Core Instructor. He's certified to teach Illinois Concealed Carry courses and holds multiple NRA instructor certifications.

Located on land in Madison County, Illinois—just 30 minutes from Lambert International Airport in St. Louis—the Tactical Playground is being developed to accommodate a variety of shooting and outdoor adventure courses. The facility is designed for families and caregivers and will eventually include:

  • Obstacle courses
  • Paintball fields
  • Rappelling tower
  • Tree house camping
  • Other family-friendly outdoor activities

Silent Dawn Tactical offers a structured curriculum with prerequisite-based progression:

Firearms Courses: - Pistol I and Pistol II (progressive levels) - Carbine I, II, and III (progressive levels) - Illinois Concealed Carry 16-hour Firearms training

Self-Defense Training: - Hand-to-hand combat instruction - Weapon retention techniques - Dynamic knife defense - Force-on-force exercises

Each course builds on previous knowledge. Pistol I is required before Pistol II; Carbine I before Carbine II. Prerequisites may be waived on a case-by-case basis—contact them at (630) 415-5287 or [email protected] for exceptions.

This isn't just a motto. It refers to attitude, skill set, mindset, respect, lifestyle, and mentality. Silent Dawn Tactical teaches students to maintain calm under pressure, build confidence, and understand their self-worth. The philosophy applies across all training programs.

Silent Dawn Tactical helps students understand FOID requirements. To legally possess firearms or ammunition in Illinois, you must have a Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card issued by the Illinois State Police. You can apply at the Illinois State Police website. Processing typically takes 30 days, though backlogs can extend timelines.

Existing FOID cards expire after 10 years. If yours has expired, check with ISP for renewal status.
