Full description and what we offer
McHenry Sportsmen's Club is a non-profit operation built by shooters for shooters. They've maintained the same focus for over 75 years: giving people a place to shoot trap, whether you're picking up a shotgun for the first time or competing for league championships.
The club runs 5 regulation trap fields equipped with state-of-the-art fully automated trap machines featuring voice release. That means consistent targets and no waiting around for manual throwers.
Hours: - Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM - Last round goes out at 3:15 PM - Open year-round (weather permitting) - Occasionally closed for member-only events
They rotate through several competitive options:
Members volunteer to run events and help new shooters learn the sport. If you're starting out, people at the club will show you what to do.
Bring lead shot only (no larger than 7.5). Steel shot is not allowed. The clubhouse stocks limited ammunition for purchase (FOID required in Illinois).
Annual memberships available – worth it if you're shooting regularly instead of paying per-visit fees.
The club hosts private and corporate events at their trap facility and wooded grounds. Open to the public most days.
